The Research Associate program  partners locally trained collegiate level research teams with researchers. It increases the access physicians and researchers have to skilled local students and facilitates their pursuit of research projects aimed at advancing evidence based medical practice and improving health outcomes.

For the 2012 summer program, WAMM provided technical and human resource support to Wellbody Alliance's Sisterhood Study, a population based survey that determined a baseline maternal mortality index for a district with an estimated population of over 350,000 in Sierra Leone. In conjunction with Wellbody Alliance and the National HIV/AIDS Secretariat of Sierra Leone, WAMM went on to provide additional technical support to a clinical research project investigating patients lost to follow-up after  testing positive for HIV.
