Translation, When you drink clean water, your life is better. How simple is that? That's the focus of our current cholera project in Sierra Leone. Just last year, 274 people were reported by the World Health Organization to have died of the disease. We want to do something about that.

In this project, WAMM has 3 goals: Survey, Intervene, and Assess.
We are starting this project with a survey of patients and a review of chart records in a system called the Network for HIV Positives, aka, NETHIPS. Through this initial step, we'll be getting a better understanding of how cholera (a diarrheal disease) affects the lives of the individuals it infects, beyond the scope of their health but into their economic and educational status as well.

The second step involves an intervention where we teach the people of Sierra Leone methods to improve water and prevent the spread of cholera through proper sanitation.

The final step is where we step back and assess the results of our intervention and see how effective it was in influencing a behavioral change in the target community. This will also be assessed by a decrease in the incidence of cholera.

With this project, we expect to indirectly impact 30,000 lives of people living with HIV. What if we could reach even more than that?
